Northgate Unified School District's STEM programs across 8 high schools struggled with student engagement and retention. Traditional textbook-based instruction for AP Chemistry and Physics resulted in mediocre test scores and poor long-term retention — students forgot most material within weeks of the unit ending.
Valtep deployed immersive VR lab environments for AP Chemistry and Physics, allowing students to conduct virtual experiments, manipulate molecular structures in 3D, and observe physics principles in action. The AI engine adapted difficulty based on each student's demonstrated understanding.
Students in VR-enhanced classes scored 40 points higher on standardized tests compared to the control group. Three months post-unit, VR students showed 4x better recall of key concepts. 91% of students said they preferred VR learning over traditional methods.
“Students who struggled with textbook chemistry lit up the moment they put on the headset. Valtep meets students where they already are.”
